The steering committee of the Economic and Social Development Council (CDES) acts as a representative of the full group of councilors. The committee is composed of five members elected among their peers.
The formation of this smaller and more agile group facilitates frequent and direct dialogue between councilors and the Brazilian president.
Members of the steering committee must interact with other councilors, conveying their points of view and proposals to the government, and vice versa. In addition, the committee contributes to the organization of the Council's work by proposing guidelines for activities, recommending the creation of working groups, and evaluating the work plan.
The current members of the steering committee are:
Claudia Sender, president of LATAM Airlines Brasil.
Dorothea Werneck, a member of the Brazilian Academy of Quality and former Minister of Labor as well as Industry and Foreign Trade.
Fabio Coelho, vice president of Google Inc. and president of Google Brasil.
Germano Rigotto, president of the Reformar Institute for Political and Tax Studies and director of the Brazilian Association of the Machinery and Equipment Industry (Abimaq).
Nizan Guanaes, founder of the ABC Communication Group.
